The Kolarkhan Estate was established in 1890 in Chumagalur. This estate holds a historical significance as the initial site of coffee cultivation in India. The the 1980s, ownership of teh estate was transferred to Rudolf Mascarenhas, marking a shift sway from colonial ties and back to a resident of the Karnataka region.
Encompassing a sprawling 540 acres of land, the state cultivates both the Arabica and Robusta coffee species, alongside some amazing spices like arecanut, pepper, cardamom and vanilla pods. Being situated adjacent to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, the estate enjoys close proximity to one of the most biodiverse areas in the Western Ghats.
It is an amazing coffee by its cup cleanliness and flavours. The overall cup quality is great.
