Cup Profile
sour cherry | almond | black tea | cream | dried fig | hibiscus | Strawberry
This Fairtrade & Organic certified Anaerobic Bourbon comes from Abakundakawa Washing Station. Abakundakawa, meaning “those who love coffee”, is a cooperative founded in 1999. 22 years ago, the cooperative initiated a women group called Hingakawa, meaning “grow coffee”, which now counts nearly 600 female members. It aims to support gender equality as well as to reduce poverty.
Abakundakawa’s cooperative farmers hand-pick ripe cherries on the volcanic slopes of Rwanda’s mountainous Gakenke District. The area’s micro-climate, high elevation and rich volcanic soils contribute to producing coffee with balanced sweetness, floral, and fruity notes.
